Role Overview
The Head of Flight Test Operations reports to the Head of the Design Organization and has broad responsibility for the flight test capabilities of the company, including instrumentation engineering, flight test engineering, and test pilots. You will be responsible for developing an approved Flight Test Operations Manual (FTOM), as part of our Part 21J Design Organization Approval.
You will have additional responsibilities as part of the design organization for human factors and human-machine interface definition, including flight crew control & indication and the crew alert system definition. You will also be responsible for executing the daily operations of the department, including planning and reporting.
Skills & Requirements
Qualifications
- Graduate degree in Aerospace or similar discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 15 years experience in engineering within an aerospace OEM company environment.
- Experience with aircraft certification programs through the entire design, development & certification lifecycle (EASA/FAA Part 23 or 25)
- Experience working in an EASA Part 21J Design Organization, or international equivalent.
- Direct experience with the role of flight test engineering, flight test operations or as a test pilot
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills in English.
- Eagerness to work with others.
- Passion for aircraft and Heart’s mission.
The ideal candidate would have
- Experience working in an aerospace start-up environment.
- Working knowledge of systems engineering principles for safety critical systems (SAE ARP 4754/4761)
