Overview of the role:

The successful candidate will co-ordinate a large number of brownfield water and wastewater treatment sites across the country, with varying complexity and will involve the direct supervision of the team.

The Project Engineer will be focused on the development of water and wastewater treatment plants, sludge treatment and pumping stations in both municipal and industrial sectors.

The role is based out of Kilkenny and will work on covering sites across the North West region of Ireland

Day to day of the role:

  • Take ownership of delegated projects and project issues;
  • Ensure thorough knowledge and understanding of the contract for all assigned projects;
  • Communicate with the Project Manager during the execution of the project;
  • Communicate with engineering team, getting involved in the design and procurement activities;
  • Organising, co-coordinating and managing site activities (installation, commissioning, setting to work, & hand-over to clients);
  • Organising, co-coordinating and managing H&S requirements;
  • Managing the project within defined budgets and programme;
  • Thorough monitoring and control of the project and adherence to the project programme;
  • Anticipate risks and manage opportunities;
  • Apply procedures in place related to contract execution;
  • Liaise with H&S Manager to ensure that all H&S requirements are satisfied;
  • Manage teams both on and off site to ensure that they are motivated and fully understand what is expected of them;
  • Where possible and appropriate, work should be delegated whilst control is always maintained.

Required skills for the role:

  • Degree in Engineering (ideally mechanical or electrical);
  • Experience in the execution of water engineering projects is desirable;
  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar role in a relevant environment;
  • Practical experience in managing site activities & mechanical & co-coordinating teams is paramount;
  • Ability to work on own initiative and effectively manage & coordinate site activities;
  • Practical site experience with good organisational and time management skills;
  • IT skills;
  • Self-motivated;
  • Strong communication skills.
