Reporting to the Engineering Product Line Leader, the hardware engineer will be responsible for:
Defining, designing, tolerancing, verifying, approving cost-effective and quality electronic designs for control products;
Selecting and approving new components and generating appropriate documentation to meet product and regulatory requirements;
Working with PCB layout engineers, design test engineers, sourcing, marketing, manufacturing and production test engineers throughout entire development to deliver high-quality cost-effective products;
Performing product-lifecycle and support activities for legacy products;
Help train and mentor junior engineers.
YOU MUST HAVE:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering;
5 years’ experience of designing, developing and supporting standalone or modular electronic systems or sub-assemblies for high-volume production of battery, and mains-powered electronic consumer, domestic or light commercial products;
Broad electronic development skillset including hardware design capability in analogue, digital, high-speed digital, embedded microcontroller, and microprocessor-based products as well as excellent problem solving skills;
Experience in Change Control and Configuration at a Product Level;
Self-motivation and team orientation;
The individual must demonstrate good communication, interpersonal, customer support, team player, and analytical skills as well as written and verbal English language skills.
Experience of RF Design requirements and techniques in sub-GHz to 5GHz range (In-home comms, Wifi, Bluetooth);
Experience of structured design methodologies, Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), design for manufacture and design for test.
