Role Summary/Purpose:

The Lead Structural Engineer for Subsea Distribution is responsible for structure design and analysis, as well as the related documentation issuing. The applications portfolio includes subsea products like: Subsea Distribution Units (SDU), Umbilical Termination Assemblys (UTA), Hydraulic Stabplates and Hydraulic Flying Leads (HFL).

Essential Responsibilities:

As a Lead Structural Engineer, you will

  • Be able to design steel structures, perform structural FEM analysis (for frame and components) and prepare the relevant documentation (design basis and reports) that are required for subsea products (SDU, UTA, HFL, MQC), fulfilling Customer Specs, International Codes and Third Parties requirements and in strict coordination with other disciplines such as modeling, materials and geotechnical engineering;
  • Be able to understand customer requirements for geotechnics, interface with geotechnical suppliers, review geotechnical documentation;
  • Be able to understand customer inputs of naval engineering (metocean data, vessel features, etc.);
  • Review material requisitions for structure packages and the relevant fabrication drawings, taking care of vendor’s and site’s activities follow-up;
  • Use GE quality tools to measure their performances in terms of timeliness (OTD) and quality (FTY) of the deliverables;
  • Be involved in supporting the growth of the business by cooperating to the preparation of technical proposals and/or Design Templates/Practices.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Mechanical/Civil/Structural/Naval Engineering Degree or equivalent knowledge or experience;
  • Strong experience in structural engineering (preferably subsea);
  • Good knowledge of FEM tools for structural analysis (for frame and components): StaadPro/Sesam GeniE (similar softwares in alternative), Ansys, Ansys Workbench;
  • Good knowledge of major technical International Standards related to the discipline (Eurocode3, DNV, ISO1990, ISO19902, ISO13628-1);
  • Cross-functional team-working skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to urgent executive requests in a timely manner;
  • Italian and English language fluency;
  • Good knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint);
  • Hold EU Working Permit.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Advanced technical degree (Master/PhD) or equivalent knowledge or experience;
  • Good knowledge of Geotechnical Engineering (preferably subsea);
  • Good knowledge of Naval Engineering;
  • Basic knowledge of MathCAD;
  • Basic knowledge of materials and subsea valves;
  • Basic knowledge of 3D CAD systems, such as Pro-Engineer (preferred) or similar, and to interface/exchange models with calculation SW;
  • Basic knowledge of piping stress analysis software (Triflex preferred, similar softwares in alternative);
  • Experience in subsea products (preferred) and/or Oil & Gas products;
  • Familiarity with major naval registers’ regulations and subsea standards (DNV, LLRR, ABS, etc) for fixed and mobile offshore installations;
  • Basic knowledge of other technical standards (AISC, ACI, IBC, ASCE , etc.);
  • Global working experience with strong external focus.
