To contribute to the preparation of ITER vacuum systems, which are procured both through the ITER Organization (IO) and Domestic Agencies (DA) procurements, for installation.
To initiate and complete engineering activities and technical coordination for the procurement, pre-manufacture and subsequent installation of ITER vacuum systems.
To develop commissioning procedures and documentation required for the startup of ITER Vacuum Systems.
Main duties / Responsibilities
Participates in the design, integration, installation and subsequent commissioning of ITER vacuum stainless steel pipework systems which form a +10 Km network;
Prepares technical specifications for the procurement of vacuum pipework systems spools and supports;
Supports the coordination of vacuum pipework system design changes and engineering activities between the IO and DAs;
Prepares technical reports required under the scope of vacuum pipework procurement contracts;
Participates in the development of detailed installation sequences & in the co-ordination with IO assembly and installation groups to develop construction work packages required for the installation of vacuum pipework systems;
Follows-up with weld design and qualification for vacuum pipework systems;
Supports the structural integrity validation of design changes required for integrations and installation;
Participates in monitoring the progress of vacuum pipework procurement and installation contracts by preparing and reviewing technical documentation;
May be required to work outside normal working hours, including nights, weekends and public holidays;
Implements the technical control of the Protection Important Activities, as well as their propagation to the entire supply chain;
May be requested to be part of any of the project/construction teams and to perform other duties in support of the project schedule;

Reports to Vacuum Section Leader;
Acts as an interface between IO and DA Responsible Officers for systems with interfaces with Vacuum systems.

Effectively supports the completion of design activities on schedule;
Meets project schedule via an efficient participation in the development of specific vacuum system commissioning procedures;
Follows-up effectively procurement contracts to deliver systems to cost and schedule;
Proposes installation plans to meet project schedules respecting constraints;
Identifies and alerts management of risks to cost and schedule in a timely manner to avoid schedule slippage and cost increase;
Demonstrates ability to make critical assessments of construction sequences and to propose alternate sequences to optimize the use of resources.

At least 5 years
At least 5 years engineering experience in industry or on large complex construction projects; combined with an experience in mechanical engineering;
Experience related to vacuum linked to large vacuum pipework systems is considered as an advantage;
Experience with design and manufacturing codes;
Experience with using CAD and structural analysis tools;
Experience working with small teams of technicians and/or engineers.
Basic project management experience, preferably with more than one engineering project, is required;
Ability to identify and alert management on both technical and schedule risks.
